The Sound Of Southend is run purely on a not-for-profit basis, updated only very occasionally and does not make any money – we’re here purely because we love Southend bands and because, unless these old tapes get digitised, no record or trace will be left of this great music within 10 or 20 years.

Everything on the site is, unless labelled otherwise, taken from a tape, CD or vinyl which was originally given away, sold or otherwise made available by the originating band. All copyright remains in the hands of the original songwriters, which will be published wherever possible.

We don’t have full songwriter information for all songs and regret we are unable to answer all queries. If you have written or published a song which you feel should not be part of this blog, please let us know and we’ll gladly respond.

We want your tracks too. but we can’t allow people to upload tracks without prior warning, as such a system is, sadly, prone to abuse. If you were in a Southend band at some point in the last fifty years or so and want to send us your work for inclusion here, please mention this somewhere in your message and we’ll send you our contact details.
